Follow-up after diagnosis

After diagnosis it is important that you receive regular follow-up. Generally, this will mean going to an annual review appointment.

  • Blood tests should be taken to see if your gut has healed enough to allow you to get all the nutrients you need and to make sure your antibody levels are normal.  
  • If you have not had a bone scan, you should discuss this with either your GP or your gastroenterologist who will be able to refer you for a scan if they think it is necessary. Any decisions about this are dependent on the results of an initial bone scan.
