Livwell - free from gluten, wheat, milk

At home

It may be hard to adjust to your childs’ new diet to start with but in time, and with our help, you will both become familiar with which products are gluten-free and which are not.  Life will become easier!

In our Gluten-free living section, you'll find lots of information on what foods are gluten-free.  Gluten-free products are available on prescription and for children prescriptions are free.

Many gluten-free manufacturers will send you samples and starter packs which allow you to try a variety of their products, so it's worth contacting them and telling them that your child is newly diagnosed.

When managing a household of mixed diets, it's important not to contaminate the gluten-free food.  You might like to consider:

  • Using separate bread boards and toasters
  • Having a separate tub of margarine or butter clearly labelled, so it does not get contaminated with breadcrumbs
  • Get the whole family spooning out jam, marmalade and other spreads with separate spoons
  • Using different areas of the kitchen for preparing gluten containing and gluten-free food.
