Have you ever become ill after being told that the meal you ordered at a restaurant was gluten-free? Do you want to help others by telling your story of living with coeliac disease? If so, then Coeliac UK needs your help!
What is a case study?
For Coeliac UK, a case study is a person who has a story which is a good example of living with coeliac diseaseA condition where a person is unable to eat gluten as it makes their body attack itself. . To increase the chances of the story being used in the media, the story may be particularly unusual, or illustrate a particular experience.
Why do we need case studies?
Sharing personal stories in this way is an important part of the campaigning work we do. The media – newspapers, television, radio, websites – often feature articles about a topic and include a human interest story to put the article in context. By being able to provide the media with case studies, we can increase the impact of our message with this powerful tool.
What do I have to do?
All you need to is fill in the online case study form with as much information as possible. Or if you prefer, request a word copy from casestudies@coeliac.org.uk and email it back to us. If you can, please include a recent photograph of yourself.
Your story will be kept in our case study file, ready to be drawn upon. If we are able to use your case study, usually you would talk to a journalist for 20 minutes or so (usually by phone) and they normally ask for a recent photo. We would of course be in touch with you beforehand to discuss what they have requested and help you with any queries.
Please note there are no guarantees your story will be used by the media.
