Dr Chris Steele MBE hands in Coeliac UK petition at Number 10 Downing Street

On 2 February 2010, Coeliac UK Ambassador Dr Chris Steele MBE visited Number 10 Downing Street to hand in a petition signed by 8,783 people. The petition urges the Government to work harder to find the half a million people in the UK with undiagnosed coeliac diseaseA condition where a person is unable to eat gluten as it makes their body attack itself. by introducing a target for diagnosis to be put into the GPGeneral Practitioner, or local doctor contract.

Dr Chris has been Coeliac UK's Ambassador for the past three years and is ITV’s This Morning’s resident doctor. Dr Chris Steele MBE on Manchester's Channel M

On Friday 5 February Dr Chris appeared on satellite TV's Channel M talking about being recently diagnosed with coeliac disease. He gave a fantastic insight into the condition and discussed, among other topics, the difficulty with getting a proper diagnosis and the impact that this can have on health.

Coeliac disease featured on ITV's This Morning - 18 January 2010

On 18 January 2010, ITV’s This Morning ran a feature with our Ambassador, Dr Chris Steele MBE on coeliac disease.

Dr Chris, who announced that he has coeliac disease, was on air discussing all aspects of, and providing useful information about, the condition and glutenA protein that is found in the cereals wheat, barley and rye. -free food. This was a fantastic opportunity to bring coeliac disease to the attention of the public and raise awareness of the issues associated with the condition.

Coeliac UK Radio 4 appeal

Dr Chris Steele has very kindly agreed to be the voice of Coeliac UK's Radio 4 appeal which is to air on Sunday 14 February at 7.55am and 9.26pm. It will then be repeated on the following Thursday at 3.27pm at FM 92.4-94.6 and LW198. We hope that all our Members and supporters will tune in and listen.
