Whatever event you decide to do, our selection of tips will make your fundraising a success.

  • Set yourself a target - The most important starting point is to set yourself a target, whether it is £25, £250 or £2,500!
  • Be bold - If you find it hard to ask for money, remember, it’s for a good cause
  • File 10888Online fundraising page- Create your online fundraising page at JustGiving and email it to all your contacts. There are many tips for promoting your fundraising pages to everyone. There are also many tips for promoting your page through the social network - Facebook
  • Ask everyone you know to help - Ask friends, family, work colleagues, neighbours,. Try everyone you know – the worse they can say is no!
  • Donations, not pledges - If possible, collect donations rather than pledges – this will save you a lot of hard work after the event
  • File 10889Gift Aid - If your donor is a tax payer, ask them to tick the gift aid box and complete their full details, including their postcode on the sponsorship form to ensure we can reclaim the tax
  • Company match-giving schemes - Does your company have a matched-giving scheme? It’s worth finding out, because many companies will match what is raised pound for a pound, or to a set amount, for employees who take part in charity fundraising
  • Keep in touch with your sponsors - Use emails to send updates on the money you have raised. Tell them how your training is going, include an amusing tale or two if you can. Remember to send a thank you after the event with an update on how well you did. If you are organising an event over a period of time, then keep your sponsors updated with a blog.
