Ask everyone you know to help - Ask friends, family, work colleagues, neighbours,. Try everyone you know – the worse they can say is no!
Donations, not pledges - If possible, collect donations rather than pledges – this will save you a lot of hard work after the event
Gift Aid - If your donor is a tax payer, ask them to tick the gift aid box and complete their full details, including their postcode on the sponsorship form to ensure we can reclaim the tax
Company match-giving schemes - Does your company have a matched-giving scheme? It’s worth finding out, because many companies will match what is raised pound for a pound, or to a set amount, for employees who take part in charity fundraising
Keep in touch with your sponsors - Use emails to send updates on the money you have raised. Tell them how your training is going, include an amusing tale or two if you can. Remember to send a thank you after the event with an update on how well you did. If you are organising an event over a period of time, then keep your sponsors updated with a blog.
