Newsletter – June 2010

Dear Friends,

We had our AGM at our May meeting which resulted in a slight change to the committee with a new Group Organiser being elected.

My name is Mike Tucker, I have been involved and on the committee for the Fenland Group for a number of years now, and I am delighted to have taken up the post of Group Organiser. At the AGM it was also agreed to elect an Assistant Group Organiser and this position went to Leo Knaggs.

Pam Ashworth agreed to do one further year as secretary, and Berni Warren also agreed to one more year as Treasurer. Gloria Joiner, who stepped down as Group Organiser will remain on the committee and is actively involved in the organisation of our yearly food fair. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Gloria for all her hard work and commitment to the group over the years.

The committee is looking for new members so any one who would like to become actively involved in the group please drop me a line. Next year we shall be looking for a new Secretary and Treasuer and again anyone who would like some further information about these positions please get in touch.

It is also with sadness that I have to inform you that one of our committee members, Marina Woods, passed away peacefully on Sunday 20th July. Marina had been involved with the group, as a committee member since the group was formed. Marina will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with her family.

Kind regards

Mike

Dusting:

A house becomes a home when you can write "I love you" on the furniture

I can’t tell you how many countless hours that I have spent dusting!

I used to spend at least eight hours every weekend making sure

Things were just perfect "in case someone came over"

Then I realised one day that no one came over

They were all living life and having fun!

Now when people visit, I find no need to explain the "condition" of my home

They are all more interested in hearing about the things I have been doing

While I was away living life and having fun

If you haven’t figured this out yet, please heed this advice:

Life is short, enjoy it! Dust if you must!

But wouldn’t it be better to paint a picture or write a letter, or bake a cake

Or plant a seed, ponder the difference between want and need?

Dust if you must, but there’s not much time, rivers to swim and mountains to climb,

Music to hear and books to read, friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must but the world’s out there with the sun in your eyes,

The wind in your hair, a flutter of snow, a shower of rain.

This day will not come round again.

Dust if you must but bear in mind, old age will come and it’s not kind.

And when you go – and go you must –you, yourself will make more dust!

Share this with all the wonderful people in your life!

It’s not what you gather but what you scatter tells what kind of life you have lived.

Have your say:

Have some news to share that we could include into the newsletter, then let our secretary know. Pam Ashworth, 6 Berryfield, March, Cambs, PE15 8PN or email at:

Updating our database – We need your help:

The group now has nearly 800 members. Whilst we continue to get new member details on a regular basis, its important for us that we have the right information about you, and also for us to know if you actually want to receive information from us.

Our local group was formed for the benefit of ALL Coeliac’s whether or not they choose to join the main charity, Coeliac UK. Everyone is welcome at any of our meetings, and you all can receive our newsletters. All we ask in return is that you respond to our requests for information and, if you feel able, help by taking your newsletters by email or send a few stamps to assist us in keeping mailing costs down - a single mail out costs over £200 now!'

We are therefore looking to bring our database up to date, here’s what you can do for us:

If you can help us to reduce the carbon footprint and would like to receive your newsletter from now on by email then complete the reply slip with your name, address and email address.

If you wish to continue to receive a hard copy of the newsletter then please complete the reply slip below detailing your name and address.

Please note that if you do not complete the reply slip attached by 31st August 2010 your details will be removed from the mailing database.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Or email details to:

butlermilso@aol.com (please title your email Coeliac member group)

One last request – if you move then let us know, please ensure though that you add details of both your old and new address together with your name so we can tally your information in the database. If you are changing to email, then please include your name and address so we can cross reference your email address to details we already hold in our database.
