NEWSLETTER - FEB 2012

Dear Friends,

Welcome once again to our latest Newsletter.

The current Committee members have stated their willingness to stand for a further year; however, my position as Group Organiser is at risk as I have to relocate, possibly not within the Fenland Area. To reduce the risk to our Group I recommend that you appoint a Deputy Group Organiser at our Annual Meeting. Should you feel able to volunteer for this, or any other committee post (official or member) please make your feelings known to a Committee member.

We had two successful Food Fairs during 2011, one at Newmarket and the second at Peterborough. It is regretted that due to the exorbitant costs involved, this year we will be holding only one Food Fair which will be held in Peterborough, details following.

It was with regret that Gloria Joiner gave up the position of Food Fair Organiser, having carried out this task so successfully for a number of years. We very much thank Gloria for all her hard work and efforts, and are very pleased that Gloria continues as a Committee Member. This does, however, create a vacant post of Food Fair Organiser. Again, should you feel able and wish to undertake this position, please make contact with a Committee Member.

If members do not continue to support the group in volunteering for the positions of Group Organiser, Secretary, Treasurer and Food Fair Organiser the group would find it difficult to continue. If you are willing to join the committee in any capacity, then please let me or the Secretary know.

If you have any ideas for forth coming events for 2012/13, which we will be discussing at our next committee meeting, then please let me or our Secretary have your suggestions.

Well, here’s to a warm and happy summer, and together with our Committee members, I look forward to seeing you at forth coming events.

Kind regards

Poem:

from A Shropshire Lad: II

Loveliest of trees, the cherry now

Is hung with bloom along the bough,

And stands about the woodland ride

Wearing white for Eastertide.

Now, of my threescore years and ten,

Twenty will not come again,

And take from seventy springs a score,

It only leaves me fifty more.

And since to look at things in bloom

Fifty springs are little room,

About the woodlands I will go

To see the cherry hung with snow.
