Venue Guide administrator

Coeliac UK Members consistently rate eating out as one of their highest priorities.  Many people with coeliac diseaseA condition where a person is unable to eat gluten as it makes their body attack itself. find it extremely difficult to find restaurants or venues that cater well for a gluten-freeWhen a food has less than 20 parts per million (ppm) of gluten so it is safe for people with coeliac disease to eat. diet.

The Coeliac UK Venue Guide is a valuable tool for our Members; enabling them to plan breaks away, special occasions or everyday eating out.  There are over 1,700 venues listed with more being added every day.

We are looking for volunteers to help us work our way through all of the new recommendations.

This role can be done from the comfort of your own home.  No previous volunteering experience required.

Venue guide administrator

The role

The role is largely administrative.  You will be sent details of venues recommended for the Coeliac UK Venue Guide by our Members.  You will need to contact the venue (by phone or email) within 14 days and run through a list of questions.  The results are to be fed back to Coeliac UK, where the venue will be added (or not) to the Venue Guide.

Desirable skills and abilities

  • Previous administrative experience
  • Confident telephone manner
  • Access to a computer and email
  • Good IT skills, preferably excel and word
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work using own initiative
  • Ability to be sensitive to the needs of our Members
  • Ability to work confidentially

Times required

Home volunteers will be required to give three hours a week to the role.

Management and Support

The Coeliac UK Volunteer Manager will be responsible for managing and supporting volunteers.

Training

An induction and basic training will be given on starting the role. All necessary support materials will be provided by the Charity.

    Could help towards the cost of raising awareness of coeliac disease and DH amongst the general public, medical profession and food industries.

    Could help towards medical research into all aspects of coeliac disease and DH.
