The UK’s national charity for people who need to live without gluten.
About us
For over 50 years, we have been the experts on coeliac disease and the gluten free diet. We are an independent charity helping people to live well, gluten free. We do this by providing our 65,000 plus members with trustworthy advice and support, funding critical research into coeliac disease, working with healthcare professionals to improve diagnosis and fighting for better availability of gluten free food. And we do it all so that one day, no one’s life will be limited by gluten. We have offices in England, Scotland and Wales. We are not Government funded and rely on our Members and the generosity of our fundraisers and supporters to continue our work. We want to see the needs of people with coeliac disease and DH recognised by everyone and met in their everyday lives. We do this by: - providing expert and independent information to help people manage their health and diet - campaigning on their behalf to improve access to fast diagnosis, good medical treatment and safe foods - in the home and out - researching new treatments and the possibilities of a cure. Coeliac UK staff work in diverse roles ranging from dietetic advice, campaigning to database management. To find out more about opportunities at the Charity please contact: generalenquiries@coeliac.org.uk As the gluten free diet is the only medical treatment for people with coeliac disease, we are always keen to talk to companies who are interested in producing and selling gluten free food. If you would like to discuss ways in which we could work together or if you want to find out more, please contact our Commercial Team at marketing@coeliac.org.uk who will be pleased to help.

As those close to me will know, 8 years ago I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease, which was a baffling 18 years of misdiagnosis!! 🤯 After years of battling with my health and going to the doctors on a regular, my life has completely altered and I am now a much healthier and happier gluten-free girly! After my diagnosis, I created 'Gluten-free Tash' on Instagram to help raise awareness of the symptoms and everyday life as a coeliac! 🙌🏼 As one of Coeliac UK's case studies to raise awareness, I wanted to share my story to help others in the same boat! So if any of the symptoms that I struggled with sound familiar, head to your GP and get some blood tests done 💉 *There are still over 500,000 people in the UK undiagnosed with this debilitating disease, so let’s spread the word and encourage people to get tested!

Meet Anne, who endured frightening symptoms like palpitations and anxiety before being diagnosed with coeliac disease. Despite feeling worried about her health, Anne persisted until she finally received answers. Chronic anaemia led to her coeliac disease diagnosis, bringing both relief and renewed energy. Anne's journey showcases the importance of perseverance and seeking medical guidance when symptoms persist. If you're experiencing similar challenges, don't hesitate to reach out for support and guidance. Are you an adult living with coeliac disease? Take part in this student research opportunity and help others like you. Coeliac disease is an autoimmune condition where the body's immune system attacks its own tissues when a person eats gluten. It can have a significant impact on an individual’s quality of life and psychological wellbeing. This study will aim to explore if an online psychological workshop could be helpful for those with coeliac disease. If you're interested in taking part and you meet the criteria for the study please email i.hughes@surrey.ac.uk. #CoeliacDisease #CoeliacUK #Coeliac #CoeliacUK #GlutenFree #GlutenFreeDiet #Research

Experienced manager with a strong background in complex governance organisations across the Charity, Public and Private Sectors.
This is a personal post in support of Coeliac Awareness Month 🌾🍽 1 in 100 people have Coeliac Disease, and it is estimated that there are around 500,000 undiagnosed people in the UK. I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease when I was 18, in 2008, after over a decade living with unexplained symptoms. So what is #CoeliacDisease? It isn't an allergy or an intolerance, it is an autoimmune disease that causes the body to attack itself when even the smallest amount of gluten is ingested. Every time someone with Coeliac Disease eats gluten it causes intestinal damage, and just a crumb is all it takes to cause damage and symptoms lasting for weeks. Untreated Coeliac Disease can lead to ostopenia or osteoperosis, unexplained infertility, recurrent miscarriages, neurogical problems and increased risk of certain cancers. For me, undiagnosed Coeliac Disease caused severe exhaustion from being malnourished, occasionally leading to me falling asleep in school. This escalated as I got older, and I was so unwell I missed a large amount of my last year of sixth form. I began fainting, usually in the most inconvenient of places like the middle of a Remembrance Day parade! I also experienced brain fog, constant illness, frequent mouth ulcers, unexplained anemia, tooth enamel problems, thinning hair and chronic stomach pain (which was my normal for so long I thought it was normal). If any of the above sounds like you, it is important that you don't stop eating gluten before you are tested. Get online, try the #CoeliacUk self assessment and get yourself to a GP. So - is there life after gluten? 16 years after diagnosis some days are still hard, but I now have the confidence to say no to unsafe food, supportive friends and family and excellent advice and support from Coeliac UK I share a few photos below to show that eating gluten free doesn’t mean needing to eat bland!

Today is International Coeliac Awareness Day. 🎉 We're proud to be supporting Coeliac UK's campaign for Coeliac Awareness Month this May, helping to raise awareness of the autoimmune condition that affects 1 in 100 people. Our team has been hard at work sharing powerful case studies and securing national, regional, local and trade media coverage to highlight the importance of understanding and managing coeliac disease. We were delighted to see Dr. Amir Khan on ITV's Lorraine this morning, discussing the realities of living with coeliac disease, the significance of early diagnosis and proper dietary management.
