CD-Medics Update

The European-funded project, CD-Medics, which is developing a new point of care test capable of measuring both antibodies and genes associated with coeliac disease, has passed its halfway review point with flying colours.

The project team leaders, including Coeliac UK CEO, Sarah Sleet, spent two days in CD MedicsBrussels presenting progress to date to European Commission officials.  The project is due to complete by February 2012.

Coeliac UK is leading the work stream on training within the project.  As part of that work, an interactive online training tool is under development aimed at healthcare professionals which is due to be launched later this year.  Part of the tool includes video clips of patients describing their experience of being diagnosed and treated for coeliac disease.
