  • I have just been diagnosed with coeliac disease, how can I join Coeliac UK?

    Coeliac UK gives you up to date information and support about your diet and health and as a Member you will also have access to a range of exclusive services.

    MembershipIf you have been diagnosed with coeliac disease then you can become a Member of Coeliac UK. is FREE for the first six months and on receipt of your application we will send you your welcome pack which will include diet and health information booklets targeted for this stage of your diagnosis, a quick reference gluten-freeWhen a food has less than 20 parts per million (ppm) of gluten so it is safe for people with coeliac disease to eat. check list, and our Food and Drink DirectoryOur annual Directory of gluten-free food and drink which manufacturers voluntarily submit to. .

  • I am not diagnosed with coeliac disease - can I still join?

     

    You can subscribe to Coeliac UK for support and up-to-date information about how to manage a gluten-freeWhen a food has less than 20 parts per million (ppm) of gluten so it is safe for people with coeliac disease to eat. diet.  If you become a SubscriberA person who receives Membership benefits, such as Crossed Grain and eXG, but is not a Member. option you will receive all the same information as Members, or if you prefer you can opt to have an electronic Subscription only.  You can join online, download an application form or contact us on 0845 305 2060.

    If you know someone who is diagnosed and want some basic information on how to cater for them, please visit the “family and friends” section of our website which has some useful tips and information.

  • How much is the Membership fee?

    We offer the following MembershipIf you have been diagnosed with coeliac disease then you can become a Member of Coeliac UK. fee categories:

    • Individual, £20 per year- for those with a medical diagnosis of coeliac diseaseA condition where a person is unable to eat gluten as it makes their body attack itself. and/or DH and parent/carers of a child (under 16) with coeliac disease or DH

     

    •  Concessionary, £10 per year- as above for those on a reduced income, eg Registered unemployed, students and those on a State pension or benefits

     

    • Household, £25 per year- Households with more than one person diagnosed with coeliac disease or DH

  • How do I get a username and password for the Members only area?

    To register now for our Members only area you will need your MembershipIf you have been diagnosed with coeliac disease then you can become a Member of Coeliac UK. reference number as quoted on your Membership card and other correspondence from Coeliac UK.

    Go to "Log-in" and then click on "Activate your account".  You'll be asked for your Membership number and postcode.  Once you have entered these, you will be asked to choose a username and password for the Members section of our website.  You can then use these right away for exclusive access to our venue guide, recipe database, online Food and Drink DirectoryOur annual Directory of gluten-free food and drink which manufacturers voluntarily submit to. , eXGOur online email newsletter which is sent to our Members each month. newsletter and our downloadable publications.

  • Why should I renew my Membership?

    Coeliac UK relies on MembershipIf you have been diagnosed with coeliac disease then you can become a Member of Coeliac UK. fees to continue our important work.  Membership fees mean we can keep working with the food sector to improve the supply of gluten-freeWhen a food has less than 20 parts per million (ppm) of gluten so it is safe for people with coeliac disease to eat. products, and the health-care sector to raise awareness of the condition and help people get diagnosed.  We also use fees to help fund medical research  - in the last year we have funded research into neurological symptoms of coeliac diseaseA condition where a person is unable to eat gluten as it makes their body attack itself. , the psycho-social impact of the disease, and how to speed up the diagnostic process.

    As well as supporting all of this, renewing your Membership means we can keep you up-to-date with the latest news on coeliac disease and changes in legislation which might affect you.  And you will continue to receive your Member benefits, such as the Food and Drink Directory, Crossed GrainOur magazine which is published three times a year. magazine and access to the Members section of the website.

    Coeliac UK receives no government funding, so we need your support.  Please renew today, and help us improve the lives of those with coeliac disease and DH.

  • How can I renew my Membership?

    You will receive a renewal form for the following year’s MembershipIf you have been diagnosed with coeliac disease then you can become a Member of Coeliac UK. a few weeks before the Membership comes to an end.  You can return the completed form and your payment to the address given below.  You can also renew online by going to http://www.coeliac.org.uk/renewals.

  • Are CAF payments accepted?

    We are not allowed to accept payments made by CAF for MembershipIf you have been diagnosed with coeliac disease then you can become a Member of Coeliac UK. fees, only voluntary donations. Due to the tax benefits associated with this payment method, we cannot legally accept these in return for direct Membership services.

  • I want to make an online payment, but my card isn’t being accepted

    First of all, double check that you have typed the numbers correctly.  If your card still isn’t accepted, this may be because you are using a credit/debit card with a different name or address to the name and address on your Coeliac UK record.   To check this, ensure the billing name and address (above where you entered the card details) are correct for the card holder.  If they are not, you can fix this by changing the billing name and billing address - simply type over the details provided.

  • My child has coeliac disease and is under 16, do I have to pay for Membership?

    When we introduced MembershipIf you have been diagnosed with coeliac disease then you can become a Member of Coeliac UK. in 2008 we decided that the best and most convenient way forward was to keep it simple.  So we introduced three simple levels of Membership (Individual/Concessionary/Household).  This structure also applies to Members that are parents or carers of children under 16.  However, those parents that rely on the state pension, benefits or are registered unemployed are entitled to the concessionary rate. 

    We do not want the fee to be a barrier to Membership and are willing to discuss individual cases. And of course all Members are entitled to the initial free period, to give you help when you need it the most regardless of your personal circumstances.

  • I have a Direct Debit set up with Coeliac UK. Will I still receive a renewal form?

    You will not be sent a renewal form. Your Direct Debit will cover your MembershipIf you have been diagnosed with coeliac disease then you can become a Member of Coeliac UK. fee and you will receive a confirmation of this with your new Membership card.

    Your new Food and Drink DirectoryOur annual Directory of gluten-free food and drink which manufacturers voluntarily submit to. will be sent to you automatically as soon as it is available in early January.

  • How soon will I receive my Directory after I’ve paid my fee?

    As soon as possible. You will receive an acknowledgement letter with your new MembershipIf you have been diagnosed with coeliac disease then you can become a Member of Coeliac UK. card together with your Directory.

    If you have paid your fee for 2011, you will receive the 2011 Food and Drink DirectoryOur annual Directory of gluten-free food and drink which manufacturers voluntarily submit to. as soon as it is available in January.

     

     

  • Does Coeliac UK have recipe cards?

    We are currently looking into this service development. In the meantime visit our Recipe Database and choose from delicious recipes suitable for every occasion, including seasonal recipes and those that are featured in our Crossed GrainOur magazine which is published three times a year. magazine. You will need to be logged in to our Members only area to access this.

     

  • How can I update my contact details?

    You can amend your personal contact details, email address and login details by going to www.coeliac.org.uk/user. You need to be logged in to our Members only area to do this, so if you are not already logged in you'll need to have your username and password at hand. Alternatively you can email us or phone us on 0845 305 2060.

  • How can I get a copy of the Food and Drink Directory?

    If you are joining Coeliac UK, you will receive a copy of the Food and Drink DirectoryOur annual Directory of gluten-free food and drink which manufacturers voluntarily submit to. in your Welcome Pack.  If you would like to buy an extra copy, or are not a Member, you can buy the Directory from our online shop for £10, or call 0845 206 3060 and speak to our MembershipIf you have been diagnosed with coeliac disease then you can become a Member of Coeliac UK. Services team.

    The Directory is revised each year and the new version is published each January.  As soon as it is published, we send out the new Directory to all Members who have already renewed their Membership.  After this, we send out copies of the Directory individually on receipt of the Membership fee.

  • Are there any restaurants providing gluten-free options where I live?

    The Venue Guide in the Members section of our website lists over 1000 venues across the UK that offer glutenA protein that is found in the cereals wheat, barley and rye. -free food. You can refine your search by post code region, cuisine type and venue type.

  • Does Coeliac UK have information on travelling abroad?

    Our Eating and Travel section has useful information for planning a trip abroad as well as in the UK. We also have information sheets and translations for over 20 countries for you to download to help you while you are away.

     

  • Why have I not received the latest edition of Crossed Grain magazine?

    Our Crossed GrainOur magazine which is published three times a year. magazine is published 3 times a year (February, May and October). If you have not received your copy please contact us via email or call us on 0845 305 2060 so we can look into this further.

    You can read the latest edition in our Members only area and check the contact details that we have for you are correct.

  • I am very busy and only have limited spare time, what can I do?

    No matter how little time you can spare, there is always something you can do to help get our message across to others. There are lots of people like you who have busy lives and other commitments, but lots of people doing a little, adds up to a lot. 

    You could spend 15 minutes using a template to write to your MP, complete an online petition or survey, or, if you have a little longer, talk to your local restaurant about catering gluten-freeWhen a food has less than 20 parts per million (ppm) of gluten so it is safe for people with coeliac disease to eat. . Whatever you’re happy to do, it will all help to raise awareness about coeliac diseaseA condition where a person is unable to eat gluten as it makes their body attack itself. .
