International coeliac disease meeting and the AOECS conference

Slovene Celiac [SIC] Disease Society is organising the simultaneous meeting with the Department of Paediatrics for Association of European Celiac Societies (AOES) at Maribor Teaching Hospital to discuss the major issues on coeliac disease.

Some of the discussions that will be discussed are: the latest data on coeliac disease epidemiology, which is known to affect about 1% or more of European population, important information about patophysiology, especially immunological changes and genetics of coeliac disease. The meeting will also focus on the ever-changing clinical picture of coeliac disease, with its many clinical forms, as well as all possible complications.
New developments in coeliac disease diagnostics will be an important part of the meeting as well as developments concerning the treatment of coeliac disease.  A very interesting part of the meeting will deal with important issues of psychosocial aspects of celiac disease, especially with quality of life for coeliac patients. These issues will be presented and discussed by some of the world's most known experts in the field, together with many researchers, clinicians, dietitians and nurses, who will be able to present their work.
We hope that the meeting will raise many new perspectives and challenges for all experts and scientists that work in the field and hope that this will lead to a mutual goal of all participants: better quality of life for all patients with coeliac disease.
