Asda crisps withdrawn

Asda has withdrawn some of its own-brand crisps as they contain trace amounts of wheat glutenA protein that is found in the cereals wheat, barley and rye. . This means they are a possible health risk to people with coeliac diseaseA condition where a person is unable to eat gluten as it makes their body attack itself. .

Asda has withdrawn some of its own-brand Salt & Vinegar, Variety and Boxed Crisps, because the salt and vinegar flavouring used in the crisps contains trace amounts of wheat glutenA protein that is found in the cereals wheat, barley and rye. . This means the products, which are available in various multi-packs, are a possible health risk to people with coeliac diseaseA condition where a person is unable to eat gluten as it makes their body attack itself.

If you have coeliac disease you are advised not to eat these products.

The products being withdrawn are:

  • Asda Salt & Vinegar Crisps 6-pack (Best before: 2 October 2010 and 9 October 2010)
  • Asda Variety Crisps 6-pack (Best before: 2 October 2010 and 9 October 2010)
  • Box of 50 packets of Asda crisps (Best before: 9 October 2010) 

The company has withdrawn the affected products from sale and notices are being displayed in stores, explaining to customers why the products are being withdrawn. If you have bought any of the above products, you can return them and get a full refund. You do not need your receipt.
