May 2018 media round up

As you can imagine it has been very busy in the media with Awareness Week and at the time of writing more coverage is still coming through.

It is great to have seen so much activity across print and broadcast media and, of course, online too.

Here’s a taster of articles which have been highlighting our Awareness Week announcement, local group events and our 50th Anniversary. There were also a number of great articles and interviews in hard copy magazines and local papers with no online links.

You can see more great coverage on our website.

There were also a number of great articles and interviews in hard copy magazines and local papers with no online links including:

  • BBC Easy Cook
  • BBC Good Food Magazine
  • Complete Nutrition
  • Healthy Diet
  • Healthy Food Guide
  • People’s Friend
  • Take Stock
  • The I
  • The Sun
  • Waitrose Weekend
  • Woman
  • Your Healthy Living

Sarah Sleet, Chief Executive of Coeliac UK was very busy doing radio interviews with stations across the country including:

Commercial stations: Waves Radio 101.2, Yorkshire Coast Radio, Source FM, Wycombe Sound, Radio Saltire and Norwich Radio

BBC stations: BBC Radio Tees, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio Norfolk, BBC Radio Lancashire, BBC Radio Oxford, BBC Radio Northampton and BBC Radio Three Counties.

On the Thursday of Awareness Week, Sarah and case study Kerry (who also took part in our Fundraising Appeal video) were up bright and early to be interviewed live in the studio by Sky TV. The six minute interview covered a number of key aspects relating to what coeliac disease is and isn’t, as well as how a gluten free diet affects someone day to day. The piece was well received with a number of very positive and grateful messages on social media.

We would also like to thank the members and supporters who took part in interviews on radio, TV and in newspapers to share their diagnosis stories and help raise awareness.

Additionally, on the first day of Awareness Week we announced that grant applications were open for the £750K fund with Innovate UK, which led to lots of great coverage:
