Frequently Asked Questions

I want to hold a fundraising event for Coeliac UK, where do I start?

Great, we're so happy that you want to do some fundraising for us!

Firstly, download our Fundraising Pack, it is full of great ideas and tips to make your fundraising a success. Once you have decided on your event, get in contact with our Fundraising Team for fundraising material including t-shirts, collection boxes, banners, balloons, posters and many more materials to help make your event a success.

Is it difficult to fundraise?

Getting involved in fundraising events and activities, no matter how small or large, can be a fantastic way to give back and raise funds for charity.

Larger events will take more time and effort to organise but smaller events can be easy to set up and run, so however big you’re thinking please get in contact with our Fundraising Team to talk about what you’d like to do.

There are many ways you can fundraise without giving up a lot of your precious time and we are grateful for any time you are able to give.

Whether you’re willing to supply your local supermarket with our collection tins, offer your help at a pre-planned event or even take on a challenge such as a half marathon, there are many ways you can get involved.

Contact our Fundraising Team to find out more about the ways you can give your time to fundraise for Coeliac UK.

How can Coeliac UK support my fundraising?

We are grateful to all of our fundraisers for taking the time to raise vital funds for Coeliac UK and to help you in your efforts, we can provide you with some key fundraising materials.

Whether you’d like a t-shirt sporting the Coeliac UK logo to wear at an event, a collection box, a banner, balloons, posters or anything else, please get in touch with our Fundraising Team and we’ll be able to supply you with these.

Why are fundraisers so important to Coeliac UK?

We rely on the generosity of our supporters to raise income as we receive no government funding. Our fundraisers not only raise essential funds for the charity, but also much needed awareness about coeliac disease and the gluten free diet.

Amounts both large and small can help make a real difference to the lives of those who have to live without gluten. We are grateful for any amount raised and every pound will help us to continue our vital support.

Do you have charity places in the London Marathon? How do I get a place?

We have a very limited number of charity places in the London Marathon and would always encourage interested runners to also enter the public ballot.

You will need to complete an application form for the London Marathon and places will then be allocated once the public ballot results have been announced. Please email fundraising@coeliac.org.uk for more information.

Where does the money I raise go?

The funds raised by our supporters play a vital part in the service we offer people who have to live without gluten.

  • We provide information and support through our dedicated Helpline
  • We campaign to improve diagnosis rates, for improved follow up care and safe food.
  • We fund research into the disease, new treatments and potential cures.
  • We also work closely with healthcare professionals and build unique networks with food manufacturers, retailers and caterers.

How often does Coeliac UK hold its Raffles?

We hold our Raffles up to three times a year - all winners and their winning ticket numbers are available on our website within two weeks of the draw taking place.

I have registered for an event; can I raise money for Coeliac UK?

Yes! We are always delighted to hear from individuals who have secured a place in an event of their choosing, whether it’s running a 5K or swimming across Lake Windermere.

Download our sponsorship form for offline donations or create an online fundraising page, such as JustGiving or Virgin Money Giving.

Don’t forget to contact the Fundraising team to let us know about your challenge!

What support can you provide if I am to organise an event?

Were you to organise an event as part of one of our campaigns, we would supply you with support materials. Usually, particularly for Awareness Week, we have an information toolkit packed with activity ideas. We also have balloons and leaflets which we can send to you.

Do let us know in good time when you’re holding an event as we can put it into our monthly email newsletter to help drive up your attendance numbers.
