Method

  1. To assemble in jar, layer your dry ingredients: flour, almonds, caster sugar, brown sugar and then top with the chocolate or raisins, wrapped in cling film
  2. Decorate your jar – use a square of fabric of your choice, some ribbon, or even seasonal evergreens for a festive flourish.
To make the cookies:
  1.  Preheat oven to 180°C/160° Fan/ Gas Mark 4
  2. Line a couple of baking sheets with greaseproof paper
  3. In a bowl, beat the butter until pale, add the egg and beat well. Remove sachet of chocolate chips/raisins from jar
  4. Add the rest of the cookie mix into the bowl with the egg and butter and mix well.
  5. Add the milk and chocolate chips/raisins and combine
  6. Drop rounded spoonfuls of the mix on to the prepared baking sheets, allowing enough room for the cookies to spread
  7. Bake for around 15 minutes or until golden
  8. Leave to cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack. Serve fresh or allow to cool completely before placing in an airtight container where they will keep for a couple of days.
