Watermelon jelly

Take a look at Lorna's watermelon jelly, creatively using the watermelon as the mould to hold the jelly. When it has set, slice it to eat just like you would with real melon! A fun, but almost certainly messy, one to make with the kids to help.  A great dessert for a summer day and a refreshing dessert in the sun. You can also vary the recipe by adding blueberries to the juice before setting.

Roast plums with honey and cinnamon

Nicola has shared a quick and easy dessert to put together that provides one of your five a day. The honey adds natural sweetness and the addition of pistachios ups the protein content, as well as making it look even more inviting. If you don’t have any plums, this also works well with pears, peaches or nectarines. If there is any fruit leftover, serve this cold with plain yoghurt and gluten free granola for a tasty way to start the day.

Eton mess

Heather recommends the Eton mess as she thinks nothing quite compares to this as a summer dessert. Light, colourful and ultimately delicious it is one that can be prepared in advance or made in a flash with minimal ingredients. A few tweaks to the classic has made this dessert difficult not to eat all in one go!

Yoghurt and fruit lollies

These lollies are extremely versatile and great for the kids. They are great for a summer day and a refreshing dessert in the sun. The yogurt in this healthy dessert is a great source of calcium. You can make lots of different versions by varying the fruit. For a treat you can take them out the mould at the end and dip them in melted chocolate and then sprinkles.

Fruit rainbow kebabs

Naomi has picked out the skewers which are fun to make with the kids, being both simple and quick to prepare. They are colourful and healthy, providing one of your 5 a day and are low in fat and calories. You could even freeze them to make them last longer!
