Coeliac Coventry Group Newsletter November 2016
Next Meeting on Saturday 12th November - 2.00 pm at
Hearsall Baptist Church Centre
Queensland Avenue, Chapelfields, Coventry CV5 8FE
At this meeting we look forward to a visit from ‘When it’s Scone it’s Gone’. Sarah McMillan will be telling us about the bread, cakes etc. she makes and there will be the opportunity to purchase some of them.
Once again we had our Information table at University Hospital, and despite some confusion regarding where we were to pitch our stall, we had two very successful days. It is always really interesting to speak to a wide range of people regarding the condition, also handing out information to others. The Committee would like to thank the two ladies who kindly volunteered to help man the stall and that help encourages the committee.
This event (21 May 2016) is always a lot of fun, mixing everyone up enabling us all to know each other a little more. The jacket potatoes etc goes down really well and is all prepared by the committee.
Another good, fun social event (1 October 2016). Good GF fish & chips, we know the fish was rather large, but still much enjoyed. Mixing everyone up into teams, again helps us get to know each other a little more, and makes friendly competition between family or friends. The Scout Hut is in such a lovely setting tucked away behind all the houses we really enjoy visiting again.
Henley College Meal
This is now all booked for Wednesday 30th November. Should be a good evening, enjoying the atmosphere of early Christmas.
The Committee have been to both Conroy’s in Corporation Street, Coventry and Murrays at the back of Coventry railway station, opposite Central Six, trying their Afternoon Teas. We can very confidently recommend both. You do have to book in advance with both.

After a number of years as Group Treasurer, John Cremins wishes to stand down from our next AGM in March. John has and still is excellent at his job and we will be sorry to see him step back. A Treasurer is vital in the running of the group. If this is your expertise, please contact either Tracy or Cynthia.
Raffle and Refreshments
We will be holding our usual raffle £1 per strip. Do you have something suitable towards the prizes?Wonderful if you have.
Anyone good at baking cakes? Could you bring something for us all to share with a cup of tea/coffee? We need a good supply to enable everyone to have a choice.
If what you provide is wheat/gluten free, it would be really helpful if you could label it so.
We make a charge of £1 for 1 cake and a drink, Other cakes can be purchased once everyone has been served. Cheap at half the price and all gluten free. Please only take ONE cake, to give everyone a chance to choose.
All this helps to fund the group i.e Renting our meeting venue, paying for stationery, and occasionally sending a donation to Coeliac UK who give us so much valuable and helpful information.
