February 2020 - Seeking input from members for future events

Coeliac

Gluten free afternoon tea

Your North Hampshire Coeliac Group Committee are currently investigating the possibility of organising a gluten free afternoon tea in the Basingstoke area to celebrate Coeliac Awareness Week which this year is between 9th and 15th May 2020. The cost for a selection of gluten free sandwiches, scones and cakes with tea and coffee is likely to be around £25 per person depending on the venue we choose.

We would like to have an indication of the number of people who might wish to attend this type of event, so please contact us by email (northhampshire@coeliac.org.uk) if you are interested in joining us, giving us some idea of the likely number of adults/children in your party.

Please also indicate if you would prefer a weekday (11th-15th May) or weekend (16th/17th May) and whether you intend to travel by public transport?

We will send out more information to include the date and booking details nearer the time.

Meal at Basingstoke College of Technology (BCOT)

We are looking into organising a meal (either at lunch time or evening, or possibly an afternoon tea) at BCOT later this year.

We would like to have an indication of the number of people who might wish to attend this type of event, so please contact us by email (northhampshire@coeliac.org.uk) if you are interested in joining us, giving us some idea of the likely number of adults/children in your party.  Please note that BCOT is only open for lunch on Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays (12-2pm), and for dinner on Wednesday and Thursdays (6.30-9.30pm).

A small gluten free goody bag will be provided to the first 14 places booked and paid (excluding non-Coeliac siblings), and a small gluten free Easter themed treat will be given to all children (including non-Coeliac siblings).

Small print

Please note that this is not an official “soft play party”, instead we shall have a table reserved for our group, with jugs of juice/ water provided.

There is usually no time limit for how long you can stay at Playdays, so you are welcome to stay after the event.  In case it is busy enough that a time limit applies, you will be informed of the time limit on arrival.

For those eating, food will be ordered to aim to arrive around 4pm. Pudding is not included, but there is usually a gf cake available, and ice cream/ sweets if you would like to buy something on the day.  Or you could tuck into your goody bag afterwards

Chicken nuggets and sausages are gluten free and dairy free.

Refunds will be provided if the event is cancelled.

Parents must accompany their children and remain responsible for them throughout the event.

Non-coeliac siblings are welcome to attend. The same entrance and food price applies, with only gluten free food being served to reduce the cross-contamination risk on our table/s.

Any profits made will be reinvested into future events for the group.

Don’t forget to wear socks!
