Following a review in 2025, Humber and North Yorkshire ICB has taken the decision to remove gluten free prescribing for patients with coeliac disease, except in a small number of specific clinical circumstances where prescribing remains clinically appropriate.  

Coeliac UK is deeply concerned by the potential impact of the decision, particularly for those who are vulnerable or on low incomes. Further details on the exceptions to the policy are available on the ICB’s policy page. 

If you are struggling on your gluten free diet, you should speak to your GP or healthcare team. It is at your GP’s discretion to prescribe where they feel there is a clinical need even if this is outside the local policy.
