Gluten free prescriptions not routinely available in most areas
Gluten free prescriptions are not routinely available in your area. If you are struggling on your gluten free diet, you should speak to your GP or healthcare team. It is at your GP’s discretion to prescribe where they feel there is a clinical need.

For those living in Scarborough and Ryedale, gluten free bread and flour mixes are available on prescription to those aged 18 and under. Speak to your GP about setting up your prescription.

Prescription Charges
In England, most people have to pay for prescriptions. However, some individuals may be eligible for free prescriptions. You can check your eligibility on the NHS website.
For gluten free prescriptions items, a single prescription charge usually applies to each product type/brand (e.g., multiple loaves of the same bread incur a single charge).
