Coeliac UK supporting gluten free prescribing in I News today

I News has published an article on the NHS decision to limit gluten free prescribing in England and the negative impact this is having on some low income families.

Coeliac UK is campaigning for gluten free prescribing to remain an essential NHS support for people with coeliac disease and Sarah Sleet, Chief Executive of Coeliac UK, was making the case:

“We believe [the change] will impact adversely on some people. We have had a few individual cases [where people] have been completely cut off from prescriptions.”
“We made a very strong case when the Department of Health was consulting on what prescriptions should be available. We said [some prescriptions should be available] to prevent health inequalities” said Ms Sleet.
