With your help we have identified a top ten list of research priorities for coeliac disease. Our priority setting partnership with the James Lind Alliance and our devoted Steering Group, brought patients, their carers and health professionals together.
It was important that everyone had the opportunity to have their voice heard; no one understands coeliac disease better than those who live with the condition and those who care for them.
From the first survey we received more than 2500 questions about coeliac disease and other gluten related autoimmune conditions. At a meeting our Steering Group generated 43 summarised research questions from the original 2500.
In a second survey there was an opportunity to select and rank ten questions, that mean the most to you, from the 43 summarised research questions.
The top 26 questions from the second survey were taken to a one day workshop in London. At the workshop, patients, people who care for them and healthcare professionals jointly agreed the top ten list of research priorities.
By raising the profile of the research needs of people with coeliac disease and other gluten related autoimmune conditions we can attract funding and direct research to where it is needed most.
