Help us with our research

We are the largest single funder of research into coeliac disease in the UK, and your support can make all the difference. Coeliac UK is the only database of people with coeliac disease as there is no NHS register of those with the condition, so our members are essential in supporting research.

Get involved

Researchers often need information from people with coeliac disease and their families to help them understand the condition better.
You can have an active and important role in research through activities like:

  • completing a survey from home, either online or by post
  • completion of a survey away from home, for example, in a supermarket
  • focus group
  • one to one interview, face to face or over the phone
  • gluten free food trial
  • trials for new treatments
  • providing a biological sample, for example, blood, urine, saliva, faeces.

Current projects recruiting for research

A research team at the University of Oxford is looking at the diagnosis pathway for coeliac disease in children. They are looking for parents or carers of children under the age of 18, to share their experiences.

The researchers are looking to interview parents and carers of children who have recently been diagnosed with coeliac disease. If selected, you will be asked to share your experiences via telephone or video call in 2 x 30-45 minutes interviews that will be spaced 3-6 months apart.

To be eligible for interview, your child must have received a medical diagnosis of coeliac disease either by blood test alone or by blood test with endoscopy and biopsy, during or after September 2023.

If you are interested in this role or would like some more information, please fill out our online form.

Within the form, please confirm the age of your child and when and how your child was diagnosed, so we can confirm your eligibility. If selected, we will introduce you to the lead researcher via email and from there they will be in touch to arrange your involvement.

Please note that by making contact and showing an interest, you are not obliged to take part in the study.

The project is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research.

Have your say with our Member Review Panel

We receive applications for research funding and our Member Review Panel helps us decide which of the research applications we should support. The panel helps us to ensure our research is important and relevant to the people diagnosed with coeliac disease and their families. Visit the Member Review Panel for more information and to register your interest.
