Local Groups

Coeliac UK has over 30 local groups across the UK, delivering local support to people with coeliac disease and those living gluten free. This is a brilliant support to have on the ground, local knowledge, especially when you're newly diagnosed and trying to figure out this gluten free life.

To find out which local groups operate in your area, go to the bottom of the page and enter your postcode, or search by region by clicking on the map, also at the bottom of the page. Alternatively you can look through the left hand menu.

How do local groups work?

Members of the charity are, where appropriate, allocated the local group closest to them when they join Coeliac UK and this will be highlighted in their account online. But members can join any local group or even join more than one local group. So see what is available near you and search their pages for more information on what’s happening.

It's up to the local groups what activities they might like to host, but many have events like cookery demonstrations, food fairs, social events, campaigning and fundraising activities and much more. Their first role is to support newly diagnosed people in the local area.

Set up your own local group

No local group in your local area? Running a group does involve a fair amount of work, but it is rewarding and fun! If there is no local group in your area and you'd like to know more, then please contact the Volunteering team at Coeliac UK.

Medical advice

The local groups cannot give medical advice and should not be treated or regarded as offering a substitute for the medical advice of any health professionals. If you're concerned about health related matters, consult your own healthcare team for professional advice.

However if you require dietary advice then you can call our Helpline which is manned by our dedicated team of dietitians, food and drink advisers and membership helpline advisers who have extensive knowledge of coeliac disease and the gluten free diet. Please call the Helpline on 0333 332 2033.
