“The Coeliac UK office has been bustling with (socially distanced) activity this month, as we prepare for Awareness Week, and our virtual challenge event.

“Awareness Week 2021 is all about shining a light on coeliac disease, to ensure that no child or young person is left out because they’re gluten free.

“Following the success of 2020’s Challenge Weekend and the continued postponement of all mass participation events, finding ways to keep our community connected and engaged is really important, especially for children and young people who have missed out on so much already.

“So as part of Awareness Week, we’re challenging our supporters to complete a fun activity – it could be something sporty like running or cycling, or more creative, like art or baking - to help us shine a light on coeliac disease and raise £50,000.

“Our #ShineALightOnCoeliac pack is central to the challenge. Everyone who signs up for our premium pack will receive a #ShineALightOnCoeliac T shirt, colourful scratch off art paper to write your messages of support on, light up wristbands and a handy Top Tips leaflet to help you get started.

The idea is, we want you to stand out as much as possible, and reach as many people as you can! There are also digital and multi person packs available.

“It is fantastic to think that supporters up and down the UK will be taking on this challenge, lighting up their local area and creating a fantastic community spirit. As a keen cyclist, I am really looking forwarding to donning my Coeliac UK colours and kitting out my bike in orange on my group rides!
