FAQ

My local CCG is continuing to prescribe gluten free according to the current prescribing policy. Does this decision mean they will now have to restrict the items they prescribe?

The government has made the decision to restrict prescribable items to gluten free bread and flour mixes. However, there is still a lengthy process to turn this decision into regulation and will require consultation with ourselves and others to determine the final list of items, so as to ensure the needs of people with coeliac disease are adequately covered.

For the time being, CCGs can continue prescribing as per their current policies but will have to prescribe according to the new list of items once they come into force. We will keep our members informed of the timing and decisions once we know more.
