Gluten Free Diner

Our Gluten Free accreditation scheme, established in 2012, makes eating out safer and easier for people who need to live gluten free. When you see our GF trademark, it signifies a venue's commitment to gluten free food safety.

We have over 3,000 accredited venues from chains to independent establishments. Our unique scheme allows us to continuously collaborate with our GF accredited partners to provide our community with a confident dining experience. We are always working to improve the experience of eating out gluten free which is why we run the Gluten Free Diner programme (formerly the Mystery Diner Programme) and would love to hear from you.

You can complete the Gluten Free Diner survey here:

Gluten Free Diner survey

Gluten Free Diner is a way of providing anonymous feedback on your eating experiences via a 10-minute survey that you can complete after you have dined at a restaurant or ordered a take away. We use your feedback to improve our GF accreditation scheme making eating out safer and easier for everyone who needs gluten free. Whether you visited a GF accredited venue or not, we want to hear about it - every insight helps us make a difference!

All data and comments collected will be shared anonymously. If you are happy to have your comments attributed to you, there is an option to leave your name at the end.

What is a ‘Gluten Free Diner’?

A ‘Gluten Free Diner’ is someone who visits a restaurant and provides feedback on the gluten free offering and experience, without the venue being aware. The aim of the Gluten Free Diner is to gain feedback on your experiences when eating out at GF accredited, and non-GF accredited, venues and to help us understand how the gluten free offering can be improved.

What do I need to do?

Simply complete our short online survey on your experience, as soon as possible after eating out.

We are looking for feedback on different aspects which include staff knowledge of coeliac disease and the gluten free offering, whether gluten free options were clearly identified on the menu, how safety procedures were followed and whether you were satisfied with the selection of gluten free dishes available, as well as your overall satisfaction. There is an option to save and come back to the survey later if you cannot complete it in one go.

Providing as much detail as you can helps us in assessing the venues processes and provide them with positive feedback, or recommendations for improvement.

Completing the survey should take no more than 10 minutes.

This survey is not the place to register a formal complaint. If you experience any issues that warrant a formal complaint, please address these with the venue at the time in the first instance and let us know via our online complaints form so that we can follow up. Please note that Coeliac UK can only deal with complaints from GF accredited venues. Here is a list of venues that are included in the scheme.

Can I provide feedback on any venue?

While we are looking for feedback on our GF accredited venues, if you would like to share your experience for a venue that is not GF accredited, there is an option to do that too. If you would like to recommend a venue to others in the community, you can do so here:

Please note that our GF accredited schools and hospitals are not included within the scope of this survey.

How will I know if the venue is GF Accredited?

GF Accreditation

Our GF Trademark will be displayed in the venue's windows, on menus and their website. When you see Coeliac UK’s GF Trademark, you know a venue is committed to gluten free safety, with the venue and staff undergoing audits and training to meet our gluten free standard.

We have a full list of accredited venues on our website.

Can I provide feedback when my gluten free meal is collected or delivered?

Feedback can be provided when you have ordered a gluten free meal for collection or delivery. Please note our GF accreditation scheme does not cover a situation where a third-party delivery company, such as Deliveroo or Uber Eats, is used.

What happens to the information provided?

The information we gather from this survey will be used to improve our GF accreditation scheme supporting people following a gluten free diet when eating out of the home. Any personal information provided will not be passed on. We may share your anonymised feedback with the respective venues to improve their service and gluten free offering. We care about your privacy, so we will keep your data secure.
