Ingredients

  • 100g (3 1/2 oz) brown gluten free flour*
  • 50g (1 1/2 oz) white gluten free flour*
  • Pinch of gluten-free baking powder*
  • Pinch of Xanthan gum
  • Cold water

Method

  1. Place all of the ingredients into a mixing bowl, gradually adding cold water and begin mixing
  2. Continue adding water until the mixture turns into a soft dough
  3. Knead for 5 minutes then place in a covered bowl for 20minutes
  4. Knead again for another 3 minutes, add water if the dough becomes too dry
  5. Divide into 4 parts and roll each one out into a medium sized chapatti
  6. Ensure the flat iron pan is hot before placing the chapati onto it
  7. Cook for 30 seconds then turn over, cooking this side for another 30 seconds
  8. You can apply pressure using a tea towel if you wish
  9. Take the chapati off the pan and place directly onto the gas fire. Using tongs, cook the chapatti until it rises, then switch sides
  10. Once cooked, you can spread the chapati with butter for taste
