Welcome to South Surrey Local Group! we are a warm and welcoming group. We were one of the first Groups to be set up some 40 years ago. There are about a 1000 Coeliacs registered with Coeliac UK in South Surrey and we have 400 members in an area who receive our newsletter or attend our events or meals out. Our area is bounded by Banstead in the north and down as far as Billingshurst West Sussex in the south.
We have two meetings a year where we have a speaker or a demonstration. These meetings our our main fund raising events and go to support our own local initiatives.
- to support the parents of children who are coeliacs.
- to support our with social events for all members young and not so young!
- provide speaker of relevance at our local meetings
- work with local hospitals and dietitians
- provide donations to Coeliac UK to further their research and support
We would love to meet you so whether new to the area or newly diagnosed. Our meetings are a good opportunity for coeliacs to meet people with the same problems and be able to share their experiences and swap ideas over a cuppa or a meal. So if you want to help support us come along and buy cakes, jams and other produce.
Our committee arranges other social events such as meals or a BBQ and we always welcome new ideas. We also send out two newsletters a year. The Christmas lunch is always a popular event. Please note that bookings are required for most events and booking forms are attached to our newsletters, which are available on this website.
Most important of all is we are here to support all coeliacs, especially in the early days after diagnosis when it is all new and can be confusing. We are always delighted to hear from you and if you have any questions please contact us and we will do our best to answer them. Don't forget that Coeliac UK is a great source of information.
