Our Local Group covers the city of Dundee and the counties of Angus and Perthshire, an area roughly 50 miles East to West and 30 miles North to South. We have about 450 Members for whom we try to provide support by phone, letter/email and at meetings. Some of our meetings are formal with speakers such as medical personnel and dietitians, whilst others are cookery demonstrations, fundraisers and bring and share food events. We also organise meals at local hotels and restaurants, and welcome any new and existing Members to join us for some yummy gluten-free grub. For us the best thing about our gatherings is the chance to chat with other people who have coeliac disease, after all everyone deals with it a little bit differently - not to mention all the baked goodies our Members manage to create. And what better way to force eating establishments into thinking about and providing gluten-free food than if we go in large numbers?!
Our aim is to support Coeliac UK nationally and locally to raise awareness of coeliac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis and the particular needs of those on a gluten-free diet.
