Dr Luca Elli, University of Milano, Italy Monitoring coeliac disease, the role of serology

The role of serology in the diagnosis of coeliac disease is well established, however there is less consensus about the role and utility of tissue transglutaminase (tTG) antibodies in follow up of coeliac disease. This talk explores the performance of tTG in people with coeliac disease following a gluten free diet and the association between tTG in follow up and complications of coeliac disease.

Biography

Dr Luca ElliDr Luca Elli MD, PhD is Head of the Centre for Prevention and Diagnosis of Coeliac Disease, Fondazione IRCCS Cà Granda - Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, University of Milano, Italy. During recent years Dr Elli has conducted different studies investigating the clinical and etiopathogenetic aspects of coeliac disease and gluten related disorders. In particular, he investigated the use of invasive and non-invasive endoscopy to manage and monitor patients with coeliac disease. During the pandemic he has investigated new methods to tele-monitor coeliac disease patients. He has published 160 articles in international peer-reviewed journals and has lectured at the most important gastroenterological congresses. Furthermore, Dr Elli is referee and editor of several peer review journals and is a member of the European Society for the Study of Coeliac Disease (ESSCD).
