Your Coeliac UK Food Information Service: August Update
31 July 2025
Thank you for your continued patience as we have upgraded the systems that underpin our Food Information Service across our website and Live Well Gluten Free app.
We are pleased to confirm that the first phase of our Food Information Service update is now complete. Over 185,000 products have been rigorously tested and uploaded back into the Live Well Gluten Free app. This means that your product search will now be returning the suitability of your chosen items for the gluten free diet.
Over the last few months, the team have been working hard to migrate the service to a new data provider. To enable certain work to happen behind the scenes we had to pause the product search and barcode scanning functions available on our website and within our Live Well Gluten Free app.
As the experts in coeliac disease for over 50 years, we know how important it is to be able to find products that are suitable for a gluten free diet. It has been important that all of the 185,000+ products that are included in the Food Information Service are categorised and checked. This is to ensure you can trust the information that we provide. Our unique service is built on the direct relationships we have across the food industry and relies on your trust.
What else should I be looking out for?

Do I need to enable push notifications?
Push notifications are a quick way for us to let you know when updates are available for the app. You will receive these messages as device notifications when you are not using the app. So please do enable this feature if you’re happy for us to communicate you in this way. Alternatively, keep an eye on our website news section as we will post updates on the Food Information Service here too.
Why did you have to check each product before releasing it back into the service?
We’ve changed, improved and increase the validation measures we use to check products that are part of our Food Information Service.
When will product information be available on the website?
Our website is the central hub for trusted, expert information and for a number of important services for our community. Our website upgrade project will enable us to make further improvements to the Food Information Service. To ensure there are no inconsistencies in our Food Information Service, the product search function will be unavailable on our website for the next few months. You will still be able to search products via the Live Well Gluten Free app.

Our priority was to deliver the gluten free diet filters as these are the most important for our gluten free community. Now these filters are in place, we will start implementing the additional dietary preferences. If you’re still unsure if a product is suitable for you, contact the manufacturer or avoid the product.
