Should I be concerned about art materials that might contain gluten?

Gluten has to be eaten to cause symptoms so using paints, crayons and glue should not be a problem unless your child accidentally eats them. As young children will often put things in their mouth, using materials without gluten is a sensible option.

Is Play DohTM gluten free?

Play DohTM is not always gluten free. However, it is easy to make play dough without using gluten. A gluten free recipe is available here.

Can I still use the Gluten Free Food Checker and the Gluten Free on the Move apps?

Our Coeliac UK Live Well Gluten Free app combines both apps in one place and replaces the existing Gluten Free Food Checker and Gluten Free on the Move apps. For the Gluten Free on the Move app this is a phased transition and although you will still be able to use the existing app until March 2023, we recommend moving to the new combined app straight away.

What is the app called?

The app is called Coeliac UK Live Well Gluten Free.

What are the features of the Coeliac UK Live Well Gluten Free app?

Our Live Well Gluten Free app is an essential part of the membership package and provides you with peace of mind when shopping and eating out gluten free.

It ensures you are fully informed about ingredients in hundreds of thousands of food and drink items while our dietary filters mean product choices are tailored especially to you. The venue guide – containing around 3,000 venues accredited by us – lets you enjoy socialising while prioritising your health. At launch, the Coeliac UK Live Well Gluten Free app will provide a number of exciting features, including:

  • Product search and barcode scanner featuring over 150,000 products
  • Dietary preference setting (gluten, plus other key allergens) – to ensure your product search results are tailored to you
  • Around 3,000 Coeliac UK GF accredited venues plus many more recommended by the community

The app will be developed over the next few months to include other helpful features for gluten free living.

How do I use the app?

At the moment there are two key uses for the app – Food and Drink product searching and Eating Out venue searching.

  • Product Search: You can either search by category, product, or use the bar code scanner
  • Venue Search: You can find venues either by selecting a cuisine type or looking at the map view – this will show gluten free venues in your local area.

Does this app link to the Food and Drink Information on your website?

Yes, the search results will be the same. When logging into the app for the first time, please check that your dietary requirements are up to date, you may also need to do this on your ‘My Account’ page on the website or app.

Can I set up more than one profile?

At this time only one user profile can be created per app account. However, the benefit of our Household membership is that each member can have their own online account and app profile and login credentials. If you would like to amend your membership then please get in touch on generalenquiries@coeliac.org.uk
