Cereals available on prescription

5 April 2012

The Advisory Committee on Borderline Substances (ACBS) is a non-departmental public body; part of its role includes reviewing applications from manufacturers to include their gluten-free products on the prescribable list for people with coeliac disease. Last year, the ACBS reviewed their policy to include the approval of breakfast cereals on prescription. However, until now there have not been any breakfast cereals added to the prescription lists. We welcome the inclusion of gluten-free breakfast cereals being approved by ACBS. CoeliacUK is updating the National prescribing guidelines to reflect this positive change. Nairn’s
