Coeliac UK statement on Gosh! Food Recall

18 May 2023

Coeliac UK is engaged in discussions with Gosh! Food following their product recall of Sweet Potato Pakora and Falafel items.

The company is recalling these products because they may contain gluten which is not declared on the label. This means that the products are a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease, an intolerance to gluten or an allergy to gluten containing cereals.

The Gosh! brand items are widely available; the Gosh Sweet Potato Pakora with Red Pepper 200g are available in Lidl while the The Deli brand products are exclusively sold at Aldi.

The charity has had initial talks with Gosh! Foods and is giving them time for investigation. We are doing everything we can to get a clear understanding of the extent of this incident, to be able to share information with consumers.

For people with coeliac disease this is a food safety issue that we are taking very seriously, particularly as these products have been Crossed Grain Certified by us. We will continue to be in active dialogue with Gosh! Foods and will pursue our own separate investigation. We will update our community as we learn more.

If you have bought any of the GOSH! or The Deli Sweet Potato Pakora and Falafel products and have coeliac disease, or an intolerance to gluten or an allergy to gluten containing cereals, do not eat them
