Coeliac UK Statement on Warp Snacks Food Recall

12 June 2023

Coeliac UK is engaged in discussions with Warp Snacks following their product recall of several Lentil Bites and Chips products.

The company is recalling these products because they may contain gluten which is not declared on the label.

The exact cereal is currently unknown. This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease, an intolerance to gluten or allergy to gluten containing grains.

The Warp Snacks products are widely available under a number of brands; ‘Eat Real’ chips are widely available, including from all major supermarkets, Aldi stock their own brand ‘The Foodie Market’ Lentil Bites Salted while Lidl stock their own brand ‘Snaktastic’ Lentil Bites Sea Salt.

The charity has had initial communications with Warp Snacks and is giving them time for investigation. We are doing everything we can to get a clear understanding of the extent of this incident, to be able to share information with consumers.

For people with coeliac disease this is a food safety issue that we are taking very seriously, particularly as the Eat Real and Aldi products have been Crossed Grain Certified by us. We will continue to be in active dialogue with Warp Snacks and pursue our own separate investigation. We will update our community as we learn more.

If you have bought any of the Warp Snacks products listed above and have coeliac disease, or an intolerance to gluten or an allergy to gluten containing grains, do not eat them.
