Oxford NHS extend consultation period for proposal to remove gluten-free

27 January 2012

Sarah Sleet, Chief Executive, spoke with Julia Stackhouse, Communications and Engagement Co-ordinator at NHS Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire earlier this week, who confirmed that the consultation period for feedback on the proposal to remove gluten-free food from prescription had been extended by another month.

The decision came following the overwhelming response received by the Primary Care Trust (PCT) having opened the consultation earlier this month. Coeliac UK strongly opposes the move and hopes to work with the PCT to find an alternative solution to saving money without restricting prescriptions.
