Spicy meatballs

You can use minced chicken, turkey or pork instead of beef if you prefer

Ingredients

  • 250g (9oz) minced beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed and chopped
  • 1 tsp (5g) mild or medium curry powder*
  • 1 tsp (5g) ground cumin
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp (15g) fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 50g (2oz) fresh gluten free breadcrumbs*
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • Cocktail sticks

Method

  1. Heat oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas mark 4
  2. Put the mince into a mixing bowl. Add the onions, garlic, curry powder, cumin, paprika, coriander and seasoning, then mix well
  3. Thoroughly mix in the beaten egg and breadcrumbs, you may find it easier to do this with your hands
  4. Divide the meat mixture into 20 small pieces and roll into balls in the palm of your hands
  5. Heat the oil in the frying pan over a medium heat and add the meatballs
  6. Cook them for 5 minutes, turning until golden brown. Remove them from the pan and place them on to an oven tray
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes
  8. Remove from the oven, drain on kitchen paper and cool. Add a cocktail stick to each meatball and serve with a dip of your choice
